Our Lady of The Rockies

Commercial

Located in the mountain community of Canmore, about 25 km southeast of Banff. Our lady of the Rockies is a new church for the parish, which dates back to the 1800s, and the first shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the Diocese of Calgary.

The fire protection for the vaulted ceilings and cathedral heights of the new parish, The Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Rockies, consisted of many complex calculations to achieve sprinkler coverage across every unique angle and expansive open space.

The nave axis alone required 58 sprinkler heads to achieve appropriate coverage. The sprinkler system layout was sensitively coordinated to maintain the aesthetics of critical importance to the spiritual place of worship.

The hydraulic calculations determine the characteristic conveyance of water from source to a discharge point. This project in the foothills of the Rockies was an exciting location for these calculations. We ensure these calculations are done correctly for system compliance with applicable codes and standards.
